UVT Survey Finds: Shortage of Technical Talent

UVT recently released a survey report revealing a severe shortage of technical talent in the current market. This survey covered numerous companies and institutions nationwide, aiming to understand the demand and supply situation in the technical field. The results show that although the number of technical positions has been continuously increasing in recent years, the supply of skilled and experienced talent is not meeting the demand, posing a significant challenge for business development.

The survey included information technology, engineering, data science, biotechnology, and other technical fields, collecting thousands of feedback responses from companies and professionals. The content covered job demand, salary levels, recruitment difficulties, and technical training, providing a comprehensive view of the current technical talent market.

The survey indicated that with the rapid development of technology and the acceleration of digital transformation, the demand for technical talent across various industries has surged. Particularly in frontier fields such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cybersecurity, the demand for related positions has increased by more than 30% compared to last year. However, despite the strong demand for these positions, companies generally report increasing difficulty in finding suitable technical talent. Over 70% of the surveyed companies stated that they had to delay or shelve important projects in the past year due to a shortage of technical talent.

The scarcity of technical talent has also directly led to rising salary levels. Data shows that the average salary for technical positions has increased by about 20% compared to the previous year, with the salary growth for senior technical positions being even more significant. The survey also found that many companies are underinvesting in technical training and employee development, leading to existing employees' skills lagging behind technological advancements. Over 50% of respondents expressed that they hope their companies would provide more training opportunities and career development support.

The shortage of technical talent has become a global issue that requires joint efforts from governments, educational institutions, and businesses to address. Companies need to increase their investment in technical training and establish closer cooperative relationships with universities and vocational training institutions to cultivate more technical talents that meet market needs.

To address the shortage of technical talent, UVT has made several recommendations. First, companies should cooperate with universities and vocational training institutions to develop courses and training programs that align with actual needs, ensuring that students possess the skills required by the market upon graduation. Second, companies should increase their investment in employee training, enhancing the skills of existing employees through internal training and continuing education. Additionally, companies can consider expanding their recruitment scope through remote work, searching for technical talent on a global scale. Finally, improving the work environment and corporate culture, offering competitive salaries and benefits, is crucial for attracting and retaining outstanding technical talent.

Besides these recommendations, UVT pointed out that the government can play a significant role in addressing the shortage of technical talent. The government can encourage companies and educational institutions to enhance technical training through policy support and financial investment. For example, providing tax incentives to encourage companies to invest in employee training or establishing special funds to support universities and vocational training institutions in developing new technical courses and programs. Moreover, the government can help companies and job seekers better match through public employment service platforms, alleviating information asymmetry in the technical talent market.

UVT's survey report highlights the severe reality of the technical talent shortage and offers valuable suggestions for addressing this challenge. As technology continues to advance, the importance of technical talent becomes increasingly prominent. Effectively solving this issue will directly impact the future development of businesses and the economy. Through joint efforts from all parties, gradually alleviating the shortage of technical talent can provide strong support for business innovation and sustainable economic growth. In this era full of challenges and opportunities, the cultivation and reserve of technical talent will become a crucial factor determining the competitiveness of enterprises and the economic strength of nations.
